The Haven Wolverhampton

We were delighted to receive your letter advising that the Trustees of The James Beattie Charitable Trust agreed to make a donation  to The Haven Wolverhampton.  This is wonderful news – on behalf of everyone at The Haven, thank you very much.

As a long-time supporter of our work you will understand the impact domestic abuse can have on the women and children we support. As such, we can’t thank you enough for your support which will enable more women and children to leave abuse in their past, overcome trauma, and move forward to a brighter future.

“The Haven support has provided a safe space for me to talk about how I feel, my fears, concerns for my son’s wellbeing. The Haven provide a support person to attend court hearings with me which is crucial support to help me keep strong which also helps me to stay resilient for my child.” – Anon

The Haven Wolverhampton supports women and dependent children who are vulnerable to domestic violence, homelessness and abuse. Through our five communal refuges in Wolverhampton (which provide accommodation to 62 women and up to 100 children at any one time), and support to those living in the community – in their own homes alone, or with the perpetrator – our focus is on holistic service provision under one roof, so women and children get all the help they need through their journey away from abuse. We can’t thank the Trustees of The James Beattie Charitable Trust enough for their very kind support, which will enable more women and children to leave abuse in their past, overcome trauma, and move forward to a brighter future.

Yours sincerely

SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy & Nursery

Thank you so much for pledging such a generous donation to support our Going that Extra Mile campaign to ensure that we have met our fund-raising target. This has lifted the staff in school so much brought much excitement to the children at home and in school as they realise what we will be able to provide that they can all look forward to in September. It is a very difficult time for schools and our fundraising efforts and this project have been an enormous success in terms of uniting the school community, engaging hard to reach children, motivating families to achieve things together and to be achieve and now exceed our end financial goal  is the icing on the cake!
We look forward to sending you a thank you from the children when our new equipment is in place being enjoyed by our children.
Thank you for helping us end this academic year on a real positive that we can always look back on and be proud of having achieved in a very challenging time.
Kindest regards

Wolverhampton MS Therapy Centre

A Hidden Gem!

Situated alongside the canal at Newbridge is the M S Therapy Centre.  Set up in 1986 to help people who

suffer from Multiple Sclerosis.  A warm welcome awaits visitors in a lovely setting backing on to the canal. Members and their families/carers can sit around the large table and chat while waiting for their appointments.  On sunnier days the terrace is available to watch the world go by (or the odd narrowboat or two).

Our charity has been providing therapies and support to our members and their families/carers in the local area and throughout the West Midlands, Shropshire and Staffordshire for 33 years in September this year.  The centre has a small staff team and a number of volunteers who give their time each week. Members self-refer to us who have Multiple Sclerosis, other neurological conditions, along with members who have cancer, strokes, sports injuries and more.

The centre offers oxygen under pressure in a chamber and more recently members who cannot go in to the chamber for what- ever reason can sit outside of the chamber breathing oxygen through a mask.

We offer physiotherapy, reflexology and other holistic therapies such as massage, reiki and psychotherapy.

Our objective is to be able to continue to offer our services to our members who currently use our lovely facilities but also to try and help more families out in the community who may need our support.  To enable us to do this we have to raise over £150,000 per annum.  Our members pay a contribution towards the cost of their therapy and we are very grateful to receive donations from  organisations such as the James Beattie Trust whose recent donation of £2125.00 will go towards helping the centre become COVID safe for our members enabling them to have their own masks when they return following the lock down .

Wolves Play Cafe

On behalf of Wolves Play Café I would like to say a huge thank you to the James Beattie Charitable Trust  for your generous donation of £557.20 for the Play at Home Activity Packs Project.

The funds have enabled us to carefully develop and resource 20 Play At Home Packs which will be distributed by working with Low Hill Nursery School. They will support families with young children in the area by providing quality resources, books and activities to support playing and development of little ones at home at this challenging time. The funding also has provided the opportunity for the organisation to be able to reproduce the packs in the future to further support families and enable investment in Wolves Play Café’s accessible play opportunities across the city.

We have shared the project via social media and will be posting a short blog about the project including photos and testimonials on our website as well.

Thank you again for your contribution to supporting young children and caregivers in our city.

Kind regards,

Let Us Play Wolverhampton

Let Us Play would like to thank the James Beattie Trust for their grant enabling us to continue supporting the amazing

children we have the pleasure of working with. Lockdown has been especially hard for our members as the change in routine is very hard

to understand. Our families have said receiving our activity and craft packs ‘feels like Christmas’, and we know being able to see the Let Us Play team on youtube, making the craft is very comforting for our members as normality at the moment is very rare.

Let us Play have also sent make your own teddy bears with scrubs to the children with a letter for parents to try and help the children understand what’s going on and hopefully feel happier.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

With the very best regards.

Claire McKen
